Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday is January 15th. Annually, the federal MLK Jr. holiday is observed on the 3rd Monday of January each year. Advantage Village Academy (AVA) began and hosted St. Petersburg’s 1st Inaugural MLK, Jr. Family Fun Day in an effort to revitalize the holiday. Since it was a huge success, in 2017 the City asked AVA to reinvent the MLK, Jr. Family Fun Day and MLK, Jr. Parade. St. Pete’s MLK DREAM BIG CELEBRATION was born.
The community is invited to celebrate the life and
legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A diverse, vibrant city guided by principled progress and intentional inclusivity, where innovation, partnerships, and ingenuity create opportunity for all; we look to honor our past and pursue our future with this series of 38th Annual MLK Dream Big events.

It's one of the events I truly look forward to every year as it brings together our entire community to celebrate the heritage of our city as well as the cultural and societal impact Martin Luther King Jr. had on our country.
Its a tremendous celebration that brings together people and performers from all around Florida to our great city to celebrate the life and contributions of a great man.
To have the nation’s longest-running parade celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in beautiful St. Pete/Clearwater is an honor and we’re excited to welcome locals and visitors from around the region, state and country to enjoy the festivities.
The celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dr. King’s message of love, peace, diversity, and human rights alive is truly commendable. At the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, we strive to live and work by these principles and to encourage others to do the same. We are grateful to share this noble mission with other passionate community voices.
The MLK Dream Big Weekend Festivities is the perfect opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy by connecting several generations in family friendly fun and cultural enrichment. The Urban Affairs Department looks forward every year to assisting the AVA team to take the parade, activities and programs to the next level.
